I’ve Read the Movie and Seen the Book

“Your love is like a hot panini.” – that is my favorite quote from the movie, “Eat, Love, Pray.”

Followed by, “Did you fall out?”

The movie was fast-forwardable but the book is another story (pun intended).

Favorite inspirations from the book:
“Still, despite all this, traveling is the great true love of my life. I have always felt, ever since I was sixteen years old and first went to Russia with my saved-up babysitting money, that to travel is worth any cost or sacrifice. I am loyal and constant in my love for travel, as I have not always been loyal and constant in my other loves. I feel about travel the way a happy new mother feels about her impossible, colicky, restless, newborn baby—I just don’t care what it puts me through. Because I adore it. Because it’s mine. Because it looks exactly like me. It can barf all over me if it wants to—I just don’t care.”

“A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master…”

— Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)

Currently I’m reading “Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life.

Anybody have their head in a good book right now?

  1. completely agree – movie was… Meh, book was great!

I’m currently reading American Wife. it took me a bit to get into, but now I’m loving it. as I almost ALWAYS have a non fiction book going at the same time, right now I’m also reading Good To Great (REALLY great!) and rereading a part of Getting Things Done (which is phenomenal – J + I both use their time planning material).

  2. I never read the book, but I saw the movie. I liked parts of it, but there were some moments that dragged on and didn’t keep my attention. I’m reading Good to Great – part of the lululemon library, and loving it!

  3. I read that book so long ago, but gawd that is a great quote about Travel. “IT can barf all over me, and I don’t care”. I think I’d care if a child did that, but not a good vacation…

Currently reading: The Happiness Project. Loving it (which is probably the point).

  4. Wasn’t a fan of the movie. In fact, I fell asleep and not sure how it ends. Wasn’t that big of a fan of her just walking out on her marriage, she seemed very selfish, IMO.
